For this project I really wanted to capture people rather than just focusing on spaces or objects. I thought about how people change over time and came up with the idea of capturing how peoples hobbies, dress sense, living styles and everyday events change as you grow older and through the generations. I want to focus on three generations: teenagers, adults in their 40s and the elderly in their 80s.
Although, a problem with this idea is that it could become rather boring therefore I want to put a little twist on my series of photos. Instead of photographing each of the three generations in their normal places, I will switch it round and capture them in their opposite places, wearing the opposite clothes to what they normally wear. I will do this to show that as you grow older you have no choice but to change. Your priorities, hobbies, dress sense and taste changes. If it didn't it just wouldn't be right.
I haven't completely decided on the setting I will use though as I want the setting to be consistant, therefore I have to think of a place whcih relates to all three generations. Instead I could also choose a specific time and day and think about what each generation would be doing at that moment. If I did a week day a teenager would be at school/university, an adult would be at work, a grandparent would be at home/at church or a Saturday night where a teenager would be partying, adult be watching the rugby or at the movies and the elderly at home.
I will use my first shoot as a practice shoot, just around the home, switching the positions of teenagers and adults, to see whether my idea works how I want it to.
