Favourites from shoot 1

In this photo I dressed my dad (the generation of "adults") in teenage clothes, playing the guitar.  I think this really captures that teenage feel to it as the background shows a typical teenage boys messy room, with a poster of a half naked girl on the wall.  The colours of the surroundings and clothes are bright and the clothes are what you would call kind of "gangster", which is not at all how an adult would dress or act.

This photo also has the bright colours, ganster look, slouched position, and shows him glued to the xbox which is how a lot of teenage boys are.  The only objects in the picture are the guitar, xbox controller and phone which are all objects which you would associate with teenagers.

The typical  man isn't usually into cooking but when it comes to a barbecue, this seems to be his thing.  With a beer on a nice sunny day I wanted to capture a teenager in his situation.  The problem I have with this photo is that I've unintentionally cropped off his feet.

One of my dads favourite things to do seems to be sitting in front of the TV with a beer, watching the rugby or soccer.  He often jumps up cheering when a goal is about to be scored.  This seems to be typical for his generation so I tried to capture a teenager doing this.  He's dressed in darker colours with his t-shirt tucked in and slippers, which is how I see the average adult of his age dressed.  The only thing is, you can't see his face which means it isn't obvious that its a teenager.

In this photo I placed a female adult in the situation of a teenage girl.  Before going out on the town a typical girl is dressed in a short dress, heels and spends a while in front of the mirror putting on make-up.  In one of Jim Goldbergs photos he captured a girl in front of a mirror, with her reflection.  I used this as a precedent for this photo.

Facebooking/sitting on the computer is also a typical activity of a teenager.  In this photo I captured an adult wearing young girls slippers, a short dress, with bright surroundings.  I think this photo looks too posed though.  When I'm sitting at my laptop I'm usually slumped on my couch not sitting up right.  The above posture is more adult-like




As apposed to the above photo of the teenage boy at the barbecue, a female adult is usually associated with the kitchen and cooking.  Here I've captured a teenage girl pooring a coffee, wearing an apron and surrounded by a clean modern kitchen.

 

This photo is of a teenager, acting as a business woman.  She's dressed in dark, business like clothes, carrying a briefcase and getting into a reasonably posh car.  You wouldn't often see a teenager doing this so I think this really captures what I wanted.
